Portugal is the largest exporter of cork products in the world. Cork stoppers for wine bottles are the main product of the industry and currently represent 60% of total exports. Among colorful countryside landscapes, where it is sometimes possible to see playful calves and free animals in the cork oak forest, this guided tour shows the life cycle of cork, which, as a raw material, begins with the extraction of the bark of cork oaks. Seasonally, one can observe the stripping work that takes place during the most active phase of cork growth and is an ancient activity that can only be done by specialists.
