If the Lezíria was suddenly colored in shades of pink, that would be… a flock of flamingos! A regular presence on the banks of the Tagus, this bird looks for food in the salt pans, while the wind sweeps the green of the rice fields. We walk from foot to foot across the Lezíria so we can admire the imposing flock that, with one leg raised and the other straight, is sticking its head in the water in a perfect balance, alternating its roost between the rice paddies, the salt pans, and the lagoons near the estuary.
Flamingos are residents of the Tagus estuary, although they do not breed, they are imposing birds of large size, with a characteristic color
Throughout the year, the places these birds use vary. In this tour we promise to look for flamingos everywhere in the Lezíria: in the rice paddies, in the salt pans, in the lagoons, by the estuary…. Meanwhile, we will take the opportunity to see many other species.
